This four-day course runs from April 3 through April 6, 2013, and will take place at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut. The course is being run by Dr. Yael Shmueli-Goetz of the Anna Freud Centre. There are 15 places in the course and they will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Fees: Course fee: $960. Fee with Reliability Test: $1450. Reliability only: $565.
The Child Attachment Interview (CAI) was developed to assess the quality of children’s attachment relationships with parents/carers in middle childhood and adolescence.
The CAI (Shmueli-Goetz et al., 2008, Target et al., 2003) focuses on current attachment memories (rather than retrospective accounts) and elicits children’s perceptions of their attachment figures’ current availability and sensitive responsiveness. The interview invites children to describe and reflect upon attachment experiences and relationships as a way of gaining access to their internal representations of those relationships.
The course includes training in the administration and coding of the CAI. Those wishing to become accredited CAI raters will be required to successfully complete the reliability process, available at an additional cost of $490.
The Child Attachment Interview (CAI) Training Course is relevant to child mental health professionals, researchers, social workers and teachers.
Further details about the CAI and the reliability process can be found on the Anna Freud Centre website, under Training and Conferences.
