Distinguished Contributions Awards

 

It is a tradition of SRCD that at each of our biennial meetings, several major awards are presented. These awards recognize contributions to the field of child development in various areas:

 

  1. Distringuished Scientific Contributions to Child Development
  2. Distinguished Contributions to Public Policy for Children
  3. Distringuished Contributions to the Lives of Children
  4. Distinguished Contributions to the Society for Research in Child Development
  5. Distinguished Contributions to Education in Child Development
  6. Distinguished International Contributions to Child Development
  7. Cultural and Contextual Contributions to Child Development

Our Awards Committee is responsible for nominating and selecting the winners of the first five awards. 

 

Early Research Contributions Awards

 

Early Research Contribution Awards, were established in 2002, this award is made to a person or persons who distinguish themselves as researchers and scholars, as evidenced through research, publications, and scholarly activity. Nominees should ordinarily be no more than six years beyond the Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Award recipients are invited to participate in the Society’s Oral History Project immediately after the awards presentation with repeat interviews at a appropriate intervals in their careers.

 

Student and Early Career Awards

 

Dissertation Funding Research Awards. Established in 2008 by the Student and Early Career Council, up to five non-renewable awards in the amount of $2,000 (maximum) will be given for dissertation research proposals that merit special recognition and display the strong potential to contribute to the field of child development. Submissions should be in the proposal stage (i.e., not completed), and money is to be used for research costs or professional development related to the proposed dissertation project.

 

A call for nominations for each award is presented to the general membership. The Awards Committees are responsible for officially nominating and selecting award receipients. [more]
