Since its inception in 1930, Child Development has been devoted to original contributions on topics in child development from the fetal period through adolescence. It is a vital source of information not only for researchers and theoreticians, but for child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers, specialists in early childhood education, educational psychologists, special education teachers, and other researchers in the field. Child Development is published on a bimonthly basis.
Child Development is enrolled in several philanthropic programs. To learn more about these programs please visit the following links:

| Notice to Contributors
In July 2009, the American Psychological Association released the 6th edition of their Publication Manual. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association provides guidelines for writers in the social and behavioral sciences.
The Society for Research in Child Development requires all authors to follow APA style when submitting manuscripts. We ask that authors familiarize themselves with the 6th edition, as there have been some changes made including updates on electronic reference formats and the construction of tables and figures. We will begin to implement the 6th edition of APA's Publication Manual on January 1, 2010.
Please visit www.apa.org for more information. You may also visit this website (http://www.apastyle.org/manual/whats-new.aspx) to access specific information on what is new in the 6th edition.
