Deadline for applications for all awards is Friday, September 26, 2009.
Three types of awards are offered to support attendance at the biennial meeting. Two award types are for international presenters, the Jacobs Foundation International Scholars Awards and the SRCD International Travel Awards. A third award type is specifically for student presenters, the SRCD Student Travel Award. The award amounts and number of recipients for each type varies. A few weeks after the final submission deadline, an email message will be sent to every person on all submissions during the Author Information Verification Process. This process provides an opportunity to apply for travel award(s).
In addition to the stated requirements for the following awards, selection criteria are based on submission merit (high ratings of submission and number of submissions accepted). This year applicants interested in immigrant children and families are also invited to a preconference on April 1 on this topic. This day-long event is funded by the Jacobs Foundation and is open to all travel awardees. If interested, applicants should explain on the application their interest in the topic and how participation in the preconference will further those interests. The program will be available on SRCD's website.
- Requirements for the Jacobs Foundation International Travel Awards. These 20 awards are to presenters (as defined by the SRCD Submission Rules) on accepted submissions who are citizens and residents of Central or Eastern Europe, Russia, or a developing country as defined by United Nations' criteria. Awards are typically made to scholars who are enrolled currently in a graduate training program or received their Ph.D. degrees or equivalents within the past seven years. The award is to be applied to travel expenses for the Biennial Meeting. In addition, recipients of this award receive complimentary meeting registration.
- Requirements for the SRCD International Travel Awards. Individuals on accepted submissions who attend the SRCD Biennial Meeting are eligible to apply for these 20 travel awards that vary in amount from $600 - $1,000. Eligible applicants are citizens and residents of any country other than the USA. Awards are typically made to scholars who are enrolled currently in a graduate training program or received their Ph.D. degrees or equivalents within the past seven years. The award may be applied to expenses as determined by the recipient.
- Requirements for the SRCD Student Travel Awards. To qualify for this award, an applicant must be the first author of an accepted submission and a student member of SRCD at the time of submission and at the time of registration, hence for both years 2008 and 2009. The award amount of $300 will be presented to 200 student applicants and may be applied to expenses as determined by the recipient.
