The Society has issued six rounds of requests for proposals for member-initiated research planning activities that address one or more goals of SRCD’s Strategic Plan. SRCD’s Strategic Plan (Strategic Plan) lists the following areas for attention:
- Increase appreciation for the fact that an understanding of development requires the perspectives and methods of multiple disciplines.
- Increase international perspectives on the study of child development.
- Increase cultural and contextual diversity in all aspects of the study of child development.
- Increase and strengthen communication of research findings to non-academic audiences (e.g., practitioners, parents, those responsible for developing and implementing educational and health policy) to promote their implementation.
Proposals sought are for research planning activities that address one or more these goals. The size of awards will vary depending on the needs and goals of the proposed project. Priority will be given to proposals for projects for which matching funds are either available or are being sought. In addition, priority will be given to proposals that will result in an intellectual product that will be broadly disseminated. Examples include books, edited volumes, and special issues of journals (including Child Development or Child Development Perspectives), SRCD Exchange (e.g., webcasting proceedings or designing a webinar that could be offered to members), as well as products designed for broader audiences of policymakers or practitioners.
Submissions for the current round of awards are no longer being accepted.
