Society for Research on Adolescence June Webinar:
Policy 101: Communicating Research to Policymaker

Tuesday, June 29, 2021 | 12:00-1:00 pm ET | Open to the Public

Policy 101: Communicating Research to Policymakers is focused specifically on writing policy briefs and is designed for anyone interested in starting to write for policymakers, regardless of other previous career experience. The session is open to members and non-members, and is designed to be interdisciplinary. The session will highlight:

  1. The differences between academic writing and policy writing, and where academics frequently face challenges
  2. Thinking about policy writing from a policymaker's point of view: what is important, how it will be read, and what policymakers do with it
  3. How researchers can collaborate with organizations to write impactful policy-related documents in a way that is most likely to be used

Opportunities for additional training and growth will also be discussed, with a focus on resources for early and mid-career faculty as well as more senior faculty members and researchers.
