Text

On August 5th-6th, SRCD U.S. Policy Fellows convened in Washington, D.C. for their end of year Capstone presentations. Fellows spent the 2024-2025 year placed in federal agencies, state agencies, and Congress to help foster connections between child development research and policy. At the August Capstone, fellows shared what they’ve learned.

Fellows talked about their dedication to and the importance of evidence-based policymaking. The group reflected on the intricates of public service and discussed themes across placements, including how administration changes influence policies and programs, adaptability, learning new skills, and bridging policy connections.

The 2024-2025 fellowship cohort at Capstone included 15 fellows. Fellows worked on quality improvement systems in early care settings, supporting federal grants and research contracts, coordinating Congressional committee hearings, aligning nutrition policies with technical assistance guidance, and more.

At the Capstone, Dr. Jennifer Lansford, SRCD President, thanked the fellows for their dedication to evidence-based policy.

Beginning in September 2025, SRCD will host six state fellows and one in Congress. State fellows will be placed in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, and Wisconsin. See their bios here. Due to changes in funding priorities within the federal government, there will not be any fellows placed in federal agencies.

SRCD congratulates the 2024-2025 fellowship cohort and thanks them for their exemplary work this year!
