The Governing Council of the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) announces the appointment of Dr. Glenn I. Roisman, a Distinguished McKnight University Professor at the Institute of Child Development, University of Minnesota, as the Incoming Editor of Child Development, SRCD’s premier scholarly publication. Dr. Roisman will succeed Dr. Cynthia García Coll, who has served for the last six years. SRCD offers its profound gratitude to Dr. García Coll for her leadership and contributions to the journal.
“Our members are fortunate that Dr. Roisman has agreed to serve as Editor of our flagship journal. He has assembled an outstanding and diverse team of international scholars who will carry forward the high standards of our past editors” said SRCD President Dr. Kenneth Dodge.
Dr. Roisman received his doctorate at the University of Minnesota and served on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for ten years before returning to Minnesota as a Professor. He received early career awards from SRCD as well as Division 7 (Developmental Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), and is now a Fellow of both the APA and the Association for Psychological Science. He has served as an Associate Editor for several journals, including Child Development and Psychological Bulletin. Dr. Roisman’s multi-method research focuses on how early interpersonal experience impacts social, cognitive, and biological development across the lifespan.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Society in this important role and look forward to advancing the state of the science of child development together with the truly remarkable scholars who make up the next Editorial Board,” said Dr. Roisman.
