Washington, DC – May 13, 2025, The Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) is pleased to announce the selection of Oxford University Press (OUP) as its new publishing partner. Beginning in 2026, OUP will publish SRCD’s four journals, Child Development, Child Development Perspectives, Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development and Social Policy Report. OUP will be SRCD’s exclusive worldwide publisher and distributor of the journals in all media. SRCD will retain ownership of the journals’ trademarks, tradenames, branding, copyright in the journals as a compilation, and editorial control of its journals.

As John Wiley & Sons, Inc’s (Wiley) current partnership with SRCD was up for renewal in 2025, the Society issued a request for proposals in 2024 and received submissions from several globally recognized publishing houses. After a thorough review process with support and guidance from KGL Consulting, SRCD’s Governing Council selected OUP as the best partner that would be poised to help the Society improve Open Access for its journals and expand editorial services while ensuring that SRCD’s journals would continue to publish the leading peer-reviewed child development research in the field. Additionally, OUP is a non-profit organization with a mission to advance knowledge and learning which aligns with SRCD’s values.

“SRCD is grateful for Wiley’s partnership over the last century in leveraging Child Development as the premier journal in the field,” said SRCD Executive Director, Dr. Suzanne Le Menestrel. “After a competitive search and thoughtful review process, we’ve selected OUP as our new publisher to expand services and offerings for our journals and editors."

Since SRCD’s flagship journal, Child Development was initially released nearly 100 years ago, the Society has worked with John Wiley & Sons, Inc to publish articles, essays, reviews, and tutorials and promote them among researchers, theoreticians, child psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers, specialists in early childhood education, educational psychologists, and special education teachers.

“In OUP, SRCD is excited to have a partner who will offer a clear strategic vision and strong editorial support," said SRCD President, Dr. Jennifer Lansford. “This partnership will help the Society grow the forward-thinking and strategic publications that we strive to have.”

“We are delighted and proud to partner with one of the premier scientific organizations within developmental psychology to publish and contribute to the advancement of their high impact publications and serve their community of scientists and professionals,” said Oxford University Press Vice President of Journals, Alison Denby.
