SRCD organizational leadership and the RARS team will need key information to evaluate the alignment of your policy engagement request with the principles for policy engagement. Please provide the following information:

1. Describe the policy issue you would like SRCD to address and provide links to relevant resources (e.g., recent news coverage, pending legislation).

2. Describe why you think SRCD should engage on the policy issue. (Be sure to briefly address SRCD’s Beneficence and Influence Principles of Social Policy Engagement, and how the developmental sciences could provide a unique scientific perspective on the issue)

3. Describe why you think the developmental sciences could inform policymakers’ decision-making on the policy issue. (Be sure to briefly address the Policy Discourse and Preponderance of Evidence Principles of Social Policy Engagement.)

4. Provide a list of the subject areas that would serve as an evidence base for the response and, if possible, a list of relevant subject matter experts. The RARS team will conduct a brief review of the extant literature and/or seek to interview experts in the field.

5. Recommend a response product or activity you think would be appropriate to address this policy issue (e.g., 2-page policy brief for a specific policy audience, a 1- page research statement with a list of corresponding articles). If you have seen examples of evidence-based responses you would like SRCD to consider, please share links to those as well.
