SOGIE Caucus Dissertation Funding Award

The SRCD Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Caucus is excited to support the work of an outstanding doctoral student within the caucus with a $1,000 USD dissertation research award. These funds will support a dissertation related to development, health, and well-being of SOGIE populations, communities, and families. To be eligible for this award: 1) the dissertation must be ongoing and will be completed in the upcoming year, 2) the dissertation study must be approved by the doctoral student’s advisor, and 3) the applicant must be a SRCD and SOGIE Caucus student member at the time of application and membership must be maintained throughout the award period.
Application materials include:
1. Cover letter (1 page maximum),
2. Project abstract and summary (2 page maximum; not inclusive of references),
3. Budget and budget justification (1 page maximum),
4. Timeline for completion of the project (1 page maximum),
5. Up-to-date curriculum vitae,
6. A letter of recommendation from the applicant's advisor stating approval of the student’s dissertation project and confirming the timeline to completion.
All application materials (excluding CV) should be single-spaced with 1-inch margins using 12-point Times New Roman font.
Award recipients are highly encouraged to present their dissertation project in one of the SOGIE caucus monthly community meetings. In addition, award recipients must acknowledge the
Dissertation Research Funding Award from SRCD SOGIE Caucus in any resulting publications from the dissertation project.
The deadline for the 2026 SOGIE Caucus Dissertation Research award is December 1, 2025 by 11:59 ET.
