U.S. Federal Funding Opportunities (FFO) is a monthly resource that summarizes awards, grants, and fellowship opportunities issued by the U.S. government related to research, evaluation and dissemination. These funding opportunities are relevant to the field of child development and, more broadly, behavioral and social science research.

Highlights -

The October 2019 FFO lists over 100 funding opportunities for research, evaluation, and dissemination, including four highlighted funding opportunities.

(1) NIH: Ethical Issues in Translational Science Research. A funding opportunity to support research to address ethical issues in translational science research. The focus is to develop knowledge to inform the ethical development, modification, or application of novel findings, technologies, and approaches to improve human health, including their impact on individuals, families, communities, and society. Applications are due by February 6, 2020.

(2) NIH: Human-Animal Interaction (HAI) Research. A funding opportunity that invites grant applications for research to examine 1) the impact of Human-Animal Interactions (HAI) on typical and atypical child development and health; 2) the evaluation of animal-assisted intervention for children and adults with disabilities or in need of rehabilitative services; 3) the effects of animals on public health, including cost effectiveness of involving animals in reducing and preventing disease.  PAR-20-031; PAR-20-032; PAR-20-033. Applications are due by December 20, 2019.

(3) NIH: Strategies to Improve Health Outcomes and to Reduce Disparities in Rural Populations. A funding opportunity that encourages research to promote a greater understanding of the challenges faced by rural population groups, for the development (or adoption/adaptation) of evidence-based interventions that can reduce health risks faced by rural Americans. Applications are due by December 13, 2019.
