The Asian, Black, Latinx, and SOGIE Caucuses of the Society for Research on Child Development will be hosting joint mentoring events at the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA) Biennial meeting in San Diego, California, USA on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20. Space is limited. The deadline for application is February 20, 2020.

Speed Mentoring and Reception

Thursday, March 19, 2020
Event at 3:45pm - 5:15pm, Reception at 6:30pm - 8:00pm

In this event, mentors will be prepared to answer and discuss questions such as:

  • What is your single best piece of writing advice?
  • How did you recover from your biggest failure?
  • What are the best ways to connect with busy professors?

Mentees will also have the chance to ask any burning questions they have to the mentors.

Panel Discussion and Lunch:
Things We Don't Talk Enough About in Academia: Imposter Syndrome, Rejections, and Burnout

Panelists will discuss some of the  challenges in academia as well as offer their own strategies and advice on addressing these challenges. The panel is inspired by a recent paper by Jaremka et al., 2019 (Perspectives in Psychological Science) that addressed these important topics.
