SRCD Signs on to Friends of IES Letter on the President’s Budget Request and the Institute of Education Sciences
SRCD signed on to a Friends of IES letter that endorses the President’s Fiscal Year 2022 Budget request for the Institute of Education Sciences. The letter, addressed to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittees, highlights the need to invest in education research to respond to the impact of COVID-19-related educational disruptions and encourages Congress to appropriate the amount included in the President’s Budget request.
The letter notes, “…this funding level would bolster the research and statistical infrastructure needed to support learning recovery, understand and address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across all levels of education, and ensure the continuation of research and data collection in the field.”
The Friends of IES is a coalition of scientific associations, education organizations, universities, and research institutions committed to supporting the Institute of Education Sciences’ (IES) research, data, statistics, and evaluation programs. The Society for Research in Child Development is a Friends of IES member.
