How many career paths can you open with a Ph.D.? This webinar will highlight various strategies and decision-making points along the path for exploring both academic and non-academic career trajectories. Panelists will discuss the wide range of opportunities open to emerging scholars and present resources that can help facilitate their own decision-making processes. Our panelist include two established researchers/mentors and two emerging scholars from both academic and non-academic career paths.
- Cynthia García Coll is an American developmental psychologist and current editor-in-chief of Child Development. She currently teaches at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus.
- Michael López is Vice President for Education and Child Development at NORC at the University of Chicago. He is a national expert with over 25 years of experience conducting applied policy-relevant research in the area of early childhood care and education, with an emphasis on low-income or culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
- Kevin Ferreira van Leer is a former graduate student and now Assistant Professor in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education: Child Development in the College of Education at California State University, Sacramento.
- Lorena Aceves is a first generation, Latina doctoral candidate and Institute of Education Sciences pre-doctoral fellow from the Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
