Call for Nominations: 2023 SRCD Committee Members, Governing Council, and Student and Early Career (SECC) Representatives
SRCD is pleased to announce the 2023 call for nominations for Governing Council (including President-Elect, Treasurer, and Members-at-Large), nine (9) SRCD Committees (Equity and Justice, Ethnic and Racial Issues, Finance/Audit, Interdisciplinary, International Affairs, Nominations, Publications, Science and Social Policy, and Teaching Committees), as well as the Student and Early Career Council (SECC) representatives to each of the committees.
Current SRCD members are eligible to nominate, and self-nominations are encouraged! Membership is not required to be nominated although those elected and appointed must agree to join SRCD for the duration of their term.
In keeping with the Society's commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its forms, we encourage nominees who can contribute to a fuller representation of perspectives in SRCD governance, including those from under-represented racial/ethnic groups, those from outside the United States, those living with disabilities, those from disciplines other than psychology, those from predominantly teaching-focused institutions, and those who work in sectors other than academia (e.g., philanthropy, government, business, law).

SRCD President-Elect
The President-Elect serves on Governing Council (and its Executive Committee) for a 6-year term: two (2) years as President-Elect, two (2) years as President, and two (2) years as Past President.
To serve as President-Elect, the elected individual must be either:
- a Professional member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent), or
- an LMIC (Low and Middle Income Countries) member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent).
Each nomination requires the nominee’s curriculum vitae and a brief statement of their interests and qualifications.
SRCD Treasurer
The Treasurer of the Society will offer guidance to the Executive Director and financial officer in ensuring good fiscal planning, decision-making and oversight at a governance level. The Treasurer serves on Governing Council (and its Executive Committee) for two years with the possibility of renewal for a second term. The Treasurer will also chair the Audit Committee, Budget Development Committee, and Financial Policy Development Task Group when and where such are necessary.
To serve as Treasurer, the elected individual must be either:
- a Professional member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent), or
- an LMIC (Low and Middle Income Countries) member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent).

SRCD Governing Council Members-At-Large
The Governing Council is the governing body of the Society and oversees its business and affairs. There are four (4) open positions for SRCD’s Governing Council (GC): two (2) nominees will be elected by the membership of SRCD, and two (2) nominees will be appointed by GC to maximize diversity of representation. Members-At-Large serve on GC for 6-year terms. For a full roster of current GC Members, visit the Governing Council page.
To serve as Members-At-Large on the Governing Council, those elected and appointed must be either:
- a Professional member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent),
- an Early Career member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent), or
- an LMIC (Low and Middle Income Countries) member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent).

To serve as a member of an SRCD Committee, appointees must be either:
- a Professional member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent),
- an Early Career member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent), or
- an LMIC (Low and Middle Income Countries) member of SRCD (with a doctoral degree or equivalent).

Student and Early Career Council (SECC) Representatives to SRCD Committees
Elected Student and Early Career Council Representatives will simultaneously serve as a representative to a specific SRCD committee for a 2-year term and to the Student and Early Career Council (SECC) for a 4-year term. Any SRCD member can submit a nomination, but only SRCD’s Student and Early Career members will elect the representatives. To serve as a SECC Representative to SRCD Committees, those elected must be:
- in their second year of doctoral studies and beyond, but no more than one (1) year post-doctoral degree (or equivalent).
Preference will be given to nominees who have been an SRCD member for at least a year. Each nomination requires the nominee’s curriculum vitae.
Letter of Intent
After the nomination deadline, SECC Chairs will review the submissions and request a letter of intent from candidates who accept their nomination. The letter of intent should address the applicant's:
- Interest in a particular committee
- Interest in serving on SECC
- Qualifications related to both aspects of the position.
